WARNING: NEED PAID INSTAPER ACCOUNT!

I only bought this to have access to my Instapaper articles, and now find this will not import them unless you’re a $36/year Instaper Premium customer. I saw no hint of this restriction either from Word App or from Instapaper. This is useless to me.

Not very usable

I tried this app hoping to find a good app to read my Instapaper queue, but it was disappointing: I couldnt find a way to open/navigate through the articles using only the keyboard; I didnt find a way to mark an article as read on my Instapaper account. I couldn t even find a way to move keyboard focus focus back to the search input box without using the mouse.

Good work

Great work but: Make it possible to resize the "Article Overview"!

Doesn

Dont know whats wrong with the app. I received all my saved articles from instapaper, and thats it. I have added many others and theyre at my instapaper account, but this app dont sync anymore. I cant delete articles from instapaper. Even archive is impossible.

Finally a Reader app for Mac!

Works great so far. Using it with Readability. Keep up the great work!

Great app

Works great to sync my Readability and Pocket list (didnt try instapaper). I like the new look much better, and I dont miss the automatic tags.

Looks good

This app does exactly what it advertises well and looks great while it does it. But I wish it did more. For instance, I wish it synced the folders I created on Instapaper, or allowed me to creat a folder system.

Simple, Clean, but features lacking.

To be fair, this app does exactly what it sets out to accomplish. It gives you youre "read later" articles in a simple and clean layout. It excells at that, but falls short on giving me all the features that the services I am using it to sync with offer me. For my workflow the lack of folder syncing with Instapaper is an annoyance, and there sharing options are non-existant. It may not be the developers intention to offer these features in the future, they may feel the more simplified approach is better. But as a desktop client for Instapaper it needs to give me all of the features I expect with that service, thats why Ive given this app 3/5 stars.

Edit** Its still having sync problems ** Pretty little "read it later" aggregator

**EDIT:** Its still having sync problems with Pocket. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A smooth, crisp, and wonderfully designed app. Works well In my workflow, grabbing different "read later" articles and links as I quickly scan the webs. And as a a plus, the horizontal scrolling setting is pretty neat.

I am interested in for Readability

I ask you to fix the problem, is not reflected in the summary text of the article, shows the characters, only the text in the title, the information source Readability (Language Russian) It would be nice to make a mark to articles on the topics to beat, the possibility of more flexible options for the readability of articles

Feedly syncing and Folders missing

The previous version was far better! This one is a step back and not forward towards a really useful and nice looking app. its lack of native syncing with popular rss services - ie Feedly or alike - is its biggest issue. I had to manually export my Feedly OPML to have my feeds on Words. And even then it did not sync properly. In addition, it does not display folders like it used to. Its only feeds now. Love the look but please address those annoying issues.

The reason my articles actually get read.

I love using Pocket to save articles to read later, but Ive found I only want to read articles on my phone when I absolutly must. Pockets website isnt exactly optimized for consuming articles so that was out as well. In came this app. Finally I have a great way to organize and read my articles right on the desktop. This app is easily worth the price.

Words: A Gem with Quirks

After getting to know this app a little more, I wanted to update my review. Despite its quirks, Words really is a little gem of an app. Ive sort of found a full-screen reading sweet spot. Thanks!

This is NOT a Mac version of Instapaper.

1. This only appears to bring in 20 articles at a time. If you want to get the next 20, quit and restart. 2. Dont see any way to see what articles are Archived or not from Instapaper. 3. There are no Preferences. The Preferences screen holds the logins from your accounts, thats it. No fonts, no choices on how the articles are displayed, no way to assign gestures or shortcuts. The only good thing about this app is that it indexes all of your articles (20 per launch) and gives you a descending list of what words appear most. Including new, about, after. Thats pretty much the only thing this is good for.

trashed it

This app is so bad that Ive deleted it. Dont waste your money!

Great app.

Great program. Yes, while not ideal, but the developers are working to improve it. And with each update it gets better and better. With their functions to cope perfectly well what else you need from that application.

Not there yet. Not worth the price ever.

In apps like these, its really the little big details that matter and those dont seem to be considered. Frankly, this reading client falls short on most accounts and has not yet proven to me that it was worth the high price tag at all. In fact I wouldnt recommend it if it were free. The developers have proven that they listen to their community, so Im sure there will be updates galore, but I think what they really need to do is strip it down and make a minimum viable product that works.

Not good enough for the price.

Weird drawing issues switching between night and day mode, no way to change the sort order of articles, images are sliced into segments in column mode, theres a debug menu for the third party APIs taking up a toolbar button that cant be removed, no way to change the font size. Lacks attention to detail, and feels untested.

Its FINALLY a Solid App

After a lot of time and a lot of headaches, Words is FINALLY a good app. I wanted to give up on it and in fact I did for a time but I came back and Im glad I did. Its beautiful and it WORKS. It just works. If you were hesitant about buying the app before, dont be, it works perfectly now.

Working with Pocket now.

Still buggy, but seems to be working now.
